Keep an eye on how much your team can do
Keep an eye on how much your team can do
If youâve managed Engineers or Designers, you probably relate when you it comes to understanding that not everything youâve planned to do can be done.
Thatâs why itâs so important to think of whatâs important and be willing to make the necessary tradeoffs. Here, good planning and an appreciation of whatâs going to really drive the results you need as a team is important whether that be getting new customers or stopping customers leaving.
In Agile, there are things called Storypoints which are used and fun approaches such as Poker Planning to help do this. Whilst human beings are terrible at estimating I wouldnât get too caught up in which method you use. The most important thing is to have a way to measure what your team can deliver within a fixed time period.
This should help you to be aware of when youâre adding that â1 extra buttonâ or âdesignâ that might mean youâre wasting more time and burning more cash
