#35 - Discovery - How do I know what to build next?
Broadly speaking these are the questions I have been asked this week. It was really interesting hearing Reidd Hoffman, Founder of LinkedIn say that one of the differences between Silicon Valley and the UK is that they are celebrated for “playing well” across the pond.
By playing well, I can succinctly say he is talking about startups that speed up their build-measure-learn loop and use that to sharpen their decision making and adaptability. This is why I strongly advise against outsourcing your development.
The best thing would be to get a co-founder in your network or a true hacker who you have worked on a project with before. Embodying the true hustle mentality isn’t getting gassed about coffee shop meetups (unless they’re with your users). In the early stages, some of the fastest growing and most valuable companies of our time were fully in discovery mode. Another thing Reid said was that until you get to product market fit, you shouldn’t be focussed on scale. You’re in discovery mode and you need to define and address your risks upfront
Let's Build Great Products
We had the pleasure of hosting an event with @reidhoffman last night, where we announced the opening of our Berlin programme. "We are all better off the more entrepreneurship there is in the world." @efLDN https://t.co/nOEE7DJwDt
“Get messy, make mistakes. As POC, we often feel an immense pressure to avoid making errors in the public eye.”

What do we mean when we talk about Product Discovery
DISCOVERY - This is something I think all early stage founders should be thinking about. Teresa once said she reads like 30-50 books a year, and when I met her last year I could definitely tell she was a deep thinker.
