#78 - Version control, a nice way to share your code and User Testing being used to bring people together
History of the web
Probably one of the first things I did when I sent out last week’s Offbeat View is I started brushing up on HTML, a language I ain’t studied in over 10 years.
Version control
Tried to get Git working properly with some reading. To add to this I went to a quick start event which helped answer some questions I have and I also watched some YouTube videos so I could watch people doing it the right way.
Version control in coding is just like version control with anything. If you’ve ever had multiple versions of the same thing you’ll have a scattered file. Commits help you and other developers you collaborate with know what changes have been made to each version,
Building products
It’s funny how most pages were built for things like blogging and commenting and as times emerged and we considered new purposes we have started seeing products.
Prototyping
Still nothing to share here as I haven’t started the prototyping but I hope to in the next couple weeks.
You done any prototyping recently? What have you used?
Insights
Is your business a painkiller or a vitamin?
TL;DR
Painkillers solve an immediate need and they focus on benefits customers can see for themselves today
Try switching your product proposition so that the solution feels immediate and communicates a solution that users want to solve today

Carbon
Came across this site from the coders. A good way to share code, and useful for enthusiasts who want to create in the open and maybe build a commnity around that.

Nice to see a Black Female Founders doing a user testing session to get feedback on her app. Great initiave, would love to see more things like this.
Thanks to everyone that made it to our user testing and feedback session on Friday!
And thank you to our venue and drinks partners @ThinkRiseLDN and @ultimalt for helping make the event possible.
