Feels great writing this as I’m in a better headspace than last month.
My Dad gave my family friend (tragically passed away last month in the explosion in Nigeria) the lift from Lagos to Ibadan. He had also spoken to him 2 hours before he passed. We were close, his Mum gave me 1 of my names. Basically family. Surprisingly my pops was trying to pour into me but I was trying to make sure my Dad was ok, he went through all that and still wouldn’t show any emotion or vulnerability. Don’t know if its their generation or the way they grew up.
I was even trying to ask, “why him?”, Dad said don’t lean on your own understanding. Some things are just written.
As I retro on life I see the same lessons. Somethings are just how they are - don’t think about it too much. You’ll learn the hard way, but there’s always support around you. And when you identify that you have that. It makes the journey that lil bit sweeter.
ASK 🙏🏻- I’m thinking to focus this newsletter on the intersection of traditional businesses and tech. As I go through train journeys in the UK I’m seeing it from a different lens. I’m really curious about where value can be unlocked. However I don’t want to go off in a direction and alienate people who have been following me for years. So I’m looking for signals. Would appreciate if you could respond with what you would want me to focus on, or maybe who I should talk to to get more perspective so I can decide my focus and make it valuable for the rest of the year.
