From data predictions to the messy middle of projects
Service. We’ve all had that frustration of ordering takeaway and the shop keeper says your food will be ready in 5 mins, and every 30 seconds before it gets to 8 mins we both feel the tension. The customer and the person serving you because the reality humans are terrible at estimates.
Through my years as a BA, Data Analyst and Product Manager I got comfortable with working with big data sets to make predictions (😩 brings memories of data cleaning & quality assurance). That was the quantitative side, nothing like what I’ve learned in the past few years about the qual.
Its funny how we confidently set a baseline without any previous data to go by. It's also the meat in the middle of the sandwich, push through and measure whether you’re making progress or get distracted with something else that feels better than doing the real work. Nailing the result you want the customer to get, you really have to put them first.
